Experiential Play Therapy

Toys Are the Language of Play

For children, play is a natural way to communicate, express feelings, explore experiences, and make sense of the world around them. At Counseling and Play Therapy Center, our highly skilled, trained, and certified play therapists work primarily with children ages 3–12, depending on each child's individual needs.

Our therapists are Registered Play Therapists who have met the rigorous requirements of national certification. Our model is Experiential Play Therapy, an approach that allows the child to lead and direct the play within a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.

Building a Trusting Relationship

Building a trusting relationship with children is the cornerstone of our practice. Through Experiential Play Therapy, children can communicate and work through their experiences in a way that feels natural to them.

Our goal is to provide children with a therapeutic environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves, developing new skills, and working toward healthier well-being.

Specialized Play Therapy Care

Play therapy requires specialized education, training, experience, and supervision. When choosing a play therapist for your child, we encourage parents and caregivers to look for national certification.

Counseling and Play Therapy Center is proud to provide specialized Experiential Play Therapy to children and adults in Wyoming.

Jungian Sandplay

Jungian Sandplay can be used with people of all ages. This therapeutic approach engages the unconscious mind to support the natural process of psychological healing.

Your clinician can help determine whether Jungian Sandplay is an appropriate therapeutic approach based on your individual needs.

Brainspotting (BSP)

Brainspotting is a body-based therapy used to help process trauma and emotional pain held within the nervous system.

This approach works by identifying specific eye positions, or "spots," connected with internal feelings and experiences, helping clients access and process experiences that may be difficult to reach through traditional talk therapy alone.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Our EMDR-trained therapists use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients reprocess negative beliefs that may be affecting behavior and everyday life.

EMDR is a psychotherapy designed to help people heal from symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences.

Expressive Arts

We offer a range of expressive arts, including painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafts, to support therapeutic development.

Our clinicians may incorporate expressive arts into the therapeutic process based on the individual needs of each client.
