Meet Jamie

My name is Jamie LF Straessler. I am the co-founder of Counseling and Play Therapy Center in Buffalo, WY. I currently own and run my own private practice, Counseling and Play Therapy Center of Wyoming, LLC.  I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Counseling, both from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. I started my counseling endeavor as an elementary school counselor. I enjoyed the school environment, but I had a desire to reach children on a deeper therapeutic level leading me to private practice and further training. After intense and enriching training, as well as rigorous certification processes, I became a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor through the Association for Play Therapy and a Certified Sandplay Consultant through the Association for Sandplay Therapy. My heart is working with young children, but I also love the variety of seeing older children, adolescents, and the occasional adult. I have broadened my counseling practice in order to help other therapists by teaching, supervising, and consulting.

My counseling environment is built on a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and their parents or caregivers when working with children. I believe that each individual, regardless of how young or old, is on a journey and has the ability to heal within. Often times we need a counselor to encourage us and help us to realize our strength and guide us in our healing process. As one’s counselor, I am honored to be a small part of your journey.
